Lip Smacking Colours
Mii Cosmetics have their summer colours out at the mo so maybe its time to banish the nudes and look for some pretty pinks or a spot of gloss…
I hadn’t heard about the beauty brand Mii until recently but if you’re anything like me, disheveled, stressed and struggling to get showered in the morning, let alone slap some lippy on, with moaning children lounging around demanding breakfast in bed, then this might be news to you too.
Mii is a salon only, mineral based brand which started a few years ago and is based in Hertfordshire. With spring in full bloom they’ve launched their new season range which includes some fantastic colours. We might not be rotating our bikinis quite yet but it’s certainly time to banish the nudes and think about some hotter shades.
There are a couple of choices in the lipstick range. The Moisturising Lip Lover goes on smoothly and has staying power – I’ve been wearing it this winter and have found it helped to fight dried lips. Cost-wise you’re looking at £14.95 for a lipstick and lip gloss which I didn’t feel was too steep compared to department store beauty prices. Here are picks from this seasons colours.
For more matt long lasting coverage try the Passion Matte Lip Lover at £15.50. It gives a bold colour block but still maintains a creamy feel to hydrate.
Glistening, shimmering or a wet look are all achievable with lighter coverage in the lip gloss range.
Mii is only available on-line or at beauty salons – Close Health and Beauty in Swineshead have an extensive range for you to try including the SPF15 tinted moisturiser (16.50), the light loving illuinator (£18.95) and the new beautifying brow wand – a clever and easy all-in-one pen (£17.50). I’m a firm believer in try before you buy, in particular where lip colour is concerned, the alternative is a hand covered in tester colours and even then they never seem to come out the same colour when applied. For £15 they offer a one-to-one or group session called Show Mii – a consultation to discuss colour and how best to apply it – an option is to bring your makeup bags in as well (are you kidding – I’ve still got my CoverGirl lipsticks!) but that is totally optional.
