Take a snoop round this modern masterpiece in Ely. The question is: can you guess the price?
Slip off those muddy stilettos, it’s time to step over the threshold of this modern masterpiece in Ely and those shiny floors won’t thank you for the mess. This 3-bedroom single story house, designed by architect Jonathan Ellis-Miller is all floor-t0-ceiling glazing, steel cladding and lots of natural light. Kevin McCloud eat your heart out. While you’re lusting over the pictures and imagining moving in, have a guess – what’s the price?
Let’s start in the kitchen, as these days we all know that can make or break a house sale. Well this is a stunner – with views as far as the eye can see over the flat fenlands (not everyone’s cup of tea, I know, but there’s something rather beautiful about the stark landscape don’t you think?). The larger of the two steel structures houses the kitchen and open-plan living area. And it’s all just so light. There’s a wood burner for keeping cosy in winter and then those huge windows for summer.
The space has been used ingeniously – the two bedrooms are reached via sliding doors, giving the place a minimalist Japanese vibe and there’s a Jack and Jill bathroom (I’ve always wondered how these work in practice – lots of double door locking I imagine!).
The second building is where you’ll find bedroom number three and the artist’s studio (because if you lived here you’d have to be an artist or wannabe artist in my case). I like to call this timber-walled look, sauna chic. Who’d thought the 70s trend would come back to interiors so soon?
If you don’t like having neighbours (and let’s be honest, who does?) then this little haven is right up your in-the-middle-of-nowhere street. Just think how peaceful it would be sitting on that sun terrace with a glass of chilled white and a good book. Ahhh, things this mum-of-a-toddler can only but dream of.
So how much do we think this steel-clad stunner is on the market for? Its tricky one isn’t it? Ok, I’ll not keep you in suspense any longer – you can find out here, and book in for a viewing should you fancy a new life in the country.
