The Fitzwilliam Arms at Marholm

Muddy says: a pretty thatched pub in the quaint village of Marholm just minutes from the bustle of Peterborough. A large pub, dogs are allowed in the bar area and the restaurant serves a range of pub classics.

The Fitzwilliam Arms in Marholm is a chocolate box thatched country pub named after The Fitzwilliam family who owned Milton Hall and much of the surrounding area. Serving excellent pub food, it has a large bar area with two fires to keep you warm and dogs are allowed in here also. It has a large restaurant with doors that open onto the pub garden with ample seating to enjoy the summer sun. The pub oozes country charm albeit that it’s only a few miles from the centre of Peterborough, the décor is laidback country casual; tweeds, tartan and leather all make an appearance, but it’s not overdone.

The menu offers a great range of pub classics, steaks, burgers and sandwiches, stone pizzas as well as an extensive Sunday menu, so it’s an idea family lunch choice. The children’s menu offers a section of options for those more adventuresome eaters as well as those that feel more comfortable with safer choices: steamed salmon, steak, sausages and grilled chicken along with margherita pizzas.

With beautiful countryside and walks to enjoy – Castor Hanglands Nature Reserve is nearby, it’s a great spot to enjoy lunch followed by some exercise.
