What’s on this weekend Fri 20 Apr-Sun 22 Apr

FRI 20 APRIL -SUN 22 APRIL

The Marriage of Figaro, Cambridge Arts Theatre, Tues 17-Sat 21 Apr

The English Touring Opera bring Mozart’s classic to the Arts Theatre this month. If you go only for the overture (is this the singularly most uplifting tune on the planet?), then you’ll have got your money’s worth. However, you will also have the opportunity to laugh at ladies in trousers, casual sexism and the ludicrously over-blown wigs, pinched cheeks and bloomers of 18th Century operatic costume.

Cambridge Arts Theatre, 6 St Edward’s Passage, Cambridge CB2 3PJ, 01223 503333

Tickets-£25-45

Bluebell Walk, Brampton Wood, Huntingdon

Bluebells are a must in April, so grab the family, find your nearest carpet of the blue beauties and just take a moment to enjoy this spectacular sight (as you try to ignore the other sight of the dog turning goon-like, rampaging all over the unsuspecting blossoms). Even the most gadget-obsessed little people are unable to resist the simple charm of a bluebell walk and Brampton Wood is a glorious site, full of wildlife, trees and unusual species, as well as being one of the county’s most ancient woodlands.

Brampton Rd, Brampton, Saint Neots PE19 5UQ,  01954 713500

A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, Sinfonia of Cambridge, Sat 21 Apr

This is a narrated performance of Britten’s classic for families and children at the West Road Concert Hall in Cambridge.

West Road Concert Hall, 11 West Road, Cambridge CB3 9DP, Tel:01223 335184

Tez Ilyas: Teztify, Cambridge Junction, Sat 21 Apr

Tez has graced our screens on Mock the Week, Live at the BBC and Channel 4’s The Last Leg, and now he brings his show to the Junction. The show has already received some great reviews, so make sure you grab the opportunity to see this stand-up with political bite.

Cambridge Junction, Clifton Way, Cambridge, CB1 7GX
