Grantchester Spring Show, Grantchester Village Hall, Sat 8 – Sun 9 April
An arts and crafts event showcasing predominantly local artists in the pretty village of Grantchester. It hosts several shows throughout the year and no surprise that this one has an Easter theme. Ceramics, art, jewellery and crafts from Cambridgeshire’s vibrant community of artists, designer-makers and craftspeople will all be on display. Grantchester is a pretty village just south of the city Centre. It has become well known for the TV sleuth drama ‘Grantchester’ much of which was filmed in the village. If you want to make more of a day of it this village knows how to relax – it has four eateries to tempt you: The Orchard Tea Gardens for a cream tea; The Red Lion, The Rupert Brooke and The Green Man. Finish the afternoon off with a stroll through the Grantchester Meadows.
The Noise Next Door, Cambridge Junction, Sat 8 April
The improv stars The Noise Next Door have been on a national tour for months and you can check them out in Cambridge this weekend. Because improv is what they do consistently – rather than something they dabble with on the side of stand-up careers – they’re super slick. Suggestions come from the audience to fit into different scenarios, some are thrown into the mix as the sketch progresses, creating some surreal combinations and making the boys really think on their feet. These guys have sold out 8 consecutive years at the Edinburgh Fringe, and have been described as ‘comedy gold’ by The Guardian. There are two performances on Sat: the afternoon one is for the family to enjoy whereas the evening one is geared for the adults

Robin Hood, Cambridge Corn Exchange, Cambridge, Tues 11 April
Not sure I should own up to this but I do love a good panto and it seems that the fun and frolics that it brings are no longer confined to Christmas time. This Easter Robin Hood and his Merry Men are coming to The Cambridge Corn Exchange and they’re bringing with them Gareth Gates as Robin and Zippy and George (remember them from Rainbow?) as the Merry Men. So welcome to pantoland with a lorra laughs and an all-singing, all-dancing production.

Oxbow and Peach Vintage Pop Up, Whittlesford, Cambridgeshire, Thurs 13 – Sat 15 April
This little showroom in the Old School House in the pretty village of Whittlesford has an eclectic mix of vintage and antique finds. It’s not open all the time but Lizzie and Georgie run pop ups through March, April, May and June and then later on in the year and this Thurs – Sat they are opening with an Easter theme subtly incorporated. I went to their last one a few weeks ago and picked up pretty china bowls and cups planted with primroses and bulbs for Mothering Sunday. There’s vintage china, glistening glass, furniture, lights, mirrors, objet d’art, jewellery, art, linens, quirky finds and so much more.

Circus: Around, Cambridge Junction, Sat 15 Apr
Arriving with a caravan of hobby horses, two acrobats transform an empty stage into a charming circus ring with the help of a band of musicians. This plucky circus troupe’s quirky show begins with a monkey playing guitar. Elephants and snakes are conjured from thin air, twinkling soap bubbles float in half-light, an underwater diver flips and twists in front of your eyes. There’s juggling, sword swallowing, hula hooping, acrobatics and clowning, all performed to live music. Around is a show in which the unimaginable is made possible. Captivating and performed with beautiful skill and artistry, it is perfect for little ones and their families.
