Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox is family fun at its finest. A juicy tale of greed, pride and the power of friendship, this flagship production for the Roald Dahl centenary celebrations, promises a Dahlicious theatrical feast with live music and songs and gloriumptious designs. A wondercrump treat for the whole family!

Former Artist in Residence Freddy Kempf returns for the penultimate concert in this year’s series, conducted by the celebrated conductor Yuri Botnari. Shostakovich’s Festive Overture; Rachmaninov’s Concerto No. 2 and Mussorgsky’s richly textured Pictures at an Exhibition will be played and if you want to get a chance to meet Freddy Kempf in person then the pre-concert talk is at the Cambridge University Press Bookshop, free to concert ticket holders.

If you like the thrill and excitement of buying at auctions, Cheffins Fine Art has a series of auctions taking place over the next month or so. This Thursday it’s Art and Design from 1860 onwards. Expect glass by Daum Frères and Murano, a gilt bronze and ivory figure by Demeter H. Chiparus, a Louis Vuitton ‘Boulogne’ handbag (ooh, yes please!), Arts and Crafts and Art Noveau furniture and an eclectic range of art. Viewing is Mon 8 – Wed 10 May and the auction is live on Thurs 11 May and if you register ahead you can big on line.

Sue Rapley Art

Sue Rapley is a Cambridge artist who works in a variety of media including oils, ink and watercolour and mixed media. Her work is full of colour and as well as landscapes the sea and water play a dominant theme in her work, drawing inspiration from different locations – from the Norfolk coast to Cornish waters and overseas to tropical islands.  Sue is holding an open studio to showcase her latest work, you’ll find it close to Burwash Manor in Barton.
